Ittycheria's Two Goal Weekend Earns Ivy Offensive Weekly Honor
October 09, 2023 | Men's Soccer
Daniel Ittycheria posted his second brace of the 2023 season and led the Tigers to a 4-0 win over Columbia in their first Ivy League conference win this weekend. The sophomore's success on the pitch has earned him Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Over the weekend, Ittycheria scored his first goal of Saturday's match against Columbia in the 24th minute, giving the Tigers an early lead. His second goal of the night was scored in the 55th minute and was the only goal in the second half.
As only a sophomore, Daniel leads the team in scoring with 7 goals on the season after only scoring just one goal his freshman year. Ittycheria continues to dominate on offense, tallying 15 points thus far. Through 9 games, he leads the team in shooting with 25 and an accuracy of 60%.
"It feels great to get the award and to be recognized for the hard work, but the season is not over," said Ittycheria. "I have a lot more goals that I want to achieve individually, and especially goals as a team, so we gotta stay humble."
Ittycheria and the Tigers will look to build off of this week's momentum playing Seton Hall in a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday.
