Tigers Fall To Dartmouth In Ivy Opener
September 26, 2026 | Men's Soccer
HANOVER, N.H. – Despite a strong effort, the #18 Princeton men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Dartmouth in its Ivy League opener on Saturday in Hanover, N.H.
With the loss, Princeton falls to 5-2-2 on the season while Dartmouth improves to 3-3-1.
How It Happened
The game settled into a back-and-forth quickly, with Dartmouth getting a chance early with the Big Green's Olly Spicer sending a shot wide.
Sending it back the other way, Princeton looked sharp with a ball sent in front of the goal line, but no Tigers were able to jab it in.
The momentum continued to trade off between the Tigers and the Big Green.
Dartmouth put together a couple of plays with another shot going high and a free kick that ended with Samuels collecting.
Princeton looked to capitalize on the counterattack, as Cyrus Klinenberg sent the ball into the box for Giacomo Gabrielli, who turned and tried to finish but sent it inches wide of the far post.
Despite good looks by both sides, the game went to the break scoreless.
Coming out of the half, both teams continued with pace and energy as they looked to find the breakthrough.
Chase Miller ran a ball up the right wing and sent a curling shot towards the upper right, but the Big Green keeper TJ Jeffreys was there to stop it.
Down the other end on a Big Green corner, Dartmouth sent a shot ricocheting off the crossbar. Dartmouth tried to tap it in, but Samuels was able to pin down the bouncing ball to make the save.
With just five minutes left, Samuels came off his line and the Big Green's Eidur Baldvinsson got in behind to score the first of the game.
With the time remaining, the Tigers tried to equalize with urgency. Jackson Martin had a header on-target but Jeffreys was there with the save again.
Despite some strong looks by the Tigers, the 1-0 score stood final.
