PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Princeton men's soccer team (4-8-3, 1-4-2 Ivy) fell to Penn in its regular season finale tonight at Penn Park, 4-1. Despite Walker Gillespie netting the first goal of the match, the Tigers couldn't maintain their lead and ended up conceding four consecutive goals to the Quakers.

How It Happened

Princeton got off to a hot start in tonight's matchup. Walker Gillespie's early strike in front of the net left Penn stunned as the senior put the Tigers on the board first with his third goal of the season. Giuliano Fravolini Whitchurch and Will Francis were both credited with assists for the goal.

Penn retaliated with two goals at the 8:32 and 11:50 minute marks to take back the lead, quickly following Princeton's early goal. The Quakers found the back of the net with a penalty kick followed by a well-placed boot to the top right of the goal that just slipped by goalkeeper William Watson.

With only 6 minutes left in the first half, Penn sealed their third goal of the evening. The Tigers found themselves trailing by a two-goal margin followed by 3 unanswered Penn goals as they headed into the break.

Just past the halfway point of the second half, Penn found its fourth goal of the night off of a strike to the top left corner of the net. Princeton continued to fight for opportunities in the second half but were unable to convert.

The match ended with a final score of 4-1 in favor of Penn.
