Mackesy Continues Hot Start In Game At Rutgers
March 12, 2023 | Men's Lacrosse
Coulter Mackesy continues to score goals at a rather historic pace for the Princeton men's lacrosse team.
The sophomore attackman had three more in the 14-13 overtime loss to No. 6 Rutgers Saturday afternoon. In doing so, he has now had at least three goals in each of the first five games of the season.
Who was the last Princeton player to have at least five straight games with three or more goals? That would be Gavin McBride, who did so in 2017, when he set the program single-season record with 54 goals.
Before McBride, you have to go back to Princeton's 2001 NCAA championship team to find a player with such a streak. That one belonged to Sean Hartofilis, who had six games with at least three goals.
Mackesy will attempt to equal Hartofilis' run when Princeton opens its Ivy season at Penn Saturday at 7 pm.
