Men's Volleyball Takes 3-1 Conference Win Over George Mason

Fairfax, VA - The Princeton men's volleyball team nabbed an EIVA victory Friday night defeating the George Mason Patriots 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 25-17).
Nyherowo Omene and Ben Harrington both led the match in kills (12) and Omene also led the Tigers in aces (3) and digs (8).
Gavin Leising totaled four blocks for the match, and Henry Wedbush led the Tigers in assists with 40.
As a team, the Tigers totaled a .341 hitting percentage and are now 4-2 in conference play.
Set One
The Tigers played a point-for-point opening set with the Patriots. Princeton took a 9-7 lead that featured kills from James Hartley, Henry Wedbush, and Nyherowo Omene to put the Tigers up.
Nate Thompson and Ryan Vena also knocked a pair of kills down to keep Princeton in front at 17-15.
The squad then took a three-point scoring streak featuring an Omene service ace and kill to help the Tigers stay ahead at 21-16. A bad set from George Mason was enough to close out set one in favor of the Tigers at 25-20 to give Princeton an early lead.
Set Two
Princeton fought hard in set two again battling point for point with the Patriots, but George Mason found its' rhythm as a team to take a five-point scoring streak taking the lead at 18-22. Harrington and Omene continued to contribute Tiger kills, but too many Princeton errors ended set two in favor of the Patriots who won the set 25-21.
Set Three
With the match tied at 1-1, Princeton was ready to take the lead in set three. Back to back kills from Harrington helped the Tigers stay ahead 5-3 and then a three kill scoring streak from Henry Wedbush, Omene, and Harrington put the Tigers up 15-12. More Patriot errors combined with Omene kills had the Tigers in the lead at 22-18. A kill from James Hartley allowed Princeton to win the third set 25-20 and take the lead in the match 2-1. A final kill from Alexander Mrkalj earned Princeton the set point to win 25-17 and the match victory 3-1.
Set Four
The Tigers brought the offense in the fourth set, closing out the match on fire. The Tigers took a five point scoring streak to get ahead at 9-6 that featured two Omene aces. Shortly after another scoring streak from the Tigers, Princeton went ahead 16-11. Gavin Leising and Henry Wedbush nabbed a kill each and Wedbush later on earned back-to-back service aces to help Princeton take a 20-12 lead.
