Fencers to Visit Lafayette for NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Saturday

Lafayette is hosting the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional fencing meet Saturday, a chance for Princeton fencers to win regional titles and add to their resume for NCAA Championships selection.
The selection formula for the NCAA Championships counts regular-season results as 40 percent of a fencer's resume and results from the regional as the other 60 percent. The Mid-Atlantic/South Region, which includes schools primarily from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, has seven bids each for five of the six weapons except men's epee, where it has six.
Competition will begin at 9 a.m. for foil, epee and men's saber. Women's saber will start at 10 a.m.
Among current Tigers, foil May Tieu and saber Alexis Anglade won regional titles in 2020, and foils Maia Weintraub and Mohamed Hamza won regional titles in 2022.
The NCAA Championships are set for March 23-26 at Duke with the men's competition on the first two days and the women's competition on the second two days.
