Men’s Volleyball Receives Post-Season All-EIVA Team Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) announced its postseason awards for the 2023 season Tuesday afternoon, and thirteen individuals from men's volleyball received 2023 honors.
Ben Harrington was named First Team All-EIVA, Henry Wedbush was named Second Team All-EIVA, and Nico Posivak, Nyherowo Omene, and Ryan Vena were all named Honorable Mention All-EIVA.
Harrington has had a tremendous 2023 season, ranking third in the nation in aces per set (.72) and leads the EIVA in this category. He also leads the EIVA in kills per set with 3.56. For the 2023 season, Harrington has also been honored as a four-time EIVA Offensive Player of the Week honoree. This is Harrington's second consecutive season being named First Team All-EIVA.
In Princeton's win over Condordia Irvine, Harrington recorded a career-high 21 kills. He recorded double digit kills in 16 matches, and finished with at least 15 kills on ten occasions, and had four matches with five service aces.
Setter Henry Wedbush ranks first on the team in assists per set (9.45), and ranks second in the EIVA in the category. He recorded a career-high 50 assists in Princeton's win over NJIT on Mar. 11th and recorded at least 30 assists on 19 occasions. Wedbush also leads the Tigers in digs, finishing with a season-best nine against the Tigers' win over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Libero Nico Posivak recorded a total of 78 digs for the 2023 regular season with 20 being in conference play. Posivak ranks third for Princeton in digs/set averaging 0.89. He executed career high 12 digs in Princeton's win over Concordia Irvine and totaled a .962 receiving percentage for 2023.
Nyherowo Omene leads the Tigers in blocks (61) and ranks second on the team in service aces (32) and kills (213). He had a well rounded 2023 regular season, helping the Tigers both offensively and defensively. Omene ranks sixth in the EIVA in service aces/set with 0.36 and tenth in points/set with 3.14. He recorded a career high five aces in the Tigers' match against Sacred Heart on February 3rd and a season high 18 kills in the Tigers match with Ohio State on January 27th. Omene also recorded a career high nine digs at Penn State on Feburary 18th and a season high five blocks against Fairleigh Dickinson on March 3rd.
First-year Ryan Vena had an impressive debut season playing for the Tigers. He ranks eighth in the EIVA in blocks per set (0.81) and for Princeton Vena ranks second in blocks for 2023 with 58, and fourth in kills (94) and service aces (18). In the Tigers' match against Charleston on April 8th, Vena recorded a season high eight kills and in the same match recorded a season high six blocks. Vena totaled a season high three aces against Harvard on Feburary 24th and executed five digs against Charleston on April 7th.
The conference also announced the 2023 All-EIVA Academic Team. Seniors Danny Sun, Nico Posivak, Alexander Mrkalj, Brady Wedbush, and Rodrigo Fernandez were recognized along with Juniors Josh Coan, Ben Harrington, James Hartley, Gavin Leising, and Sophomore Charlie Rogers.
Athletes (excluding first year students) must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher to receive this recognition.
