Mackesy Named To USILA Team Of The Week
April 25, 2023 | Men's Lacrosse
Coutler Mackesy has added the USILA Team of the Week to his Ivy League Player of the Week honor after his eight-goal, two-assist performance in Princeton's 17-11 win over Harvard this past Saturday.
Mackesy, who now leads Division I in points per game with 5.91, had his second 10-point game of the season, making him the second player in program history with multiple games of at least 10 points. He also became the first Princeton player ever with multiple games of eight or more goals, after he also banked eight against Yale earlier this season.
With his eight-goal day, Mackesy has now scored three or more in 10 of Princeton's 11 games. Only two other Princeton players in the last 30 years have had at least 10 games in a season with three or more goals, and those two were Chris Massey in 1997 and Mike MacDonald in 2015.
Next up for Princeton is a trip to Cornell for this Saturday's noon showdown against the Big Red for the Ivy League outright championship. Princeton, Cornell and Penn will be joined at the Ivy League tournament at Columbia next weekend by the winner of this weekend's Yale-Harvard game.
