Dudas Named USFCA Women's Coach of the Year
May 11, 2023 | Women's Fencing
After guiding the Princeton women's fencing team to its 12th Ivy League title and second straight, and to a national runner-up finish combined with the men's team, Zoltan Dudas has earned the U.S. Fencing Coaches Association's Women's Team Collegiate Coach of the Year Award.
Dudas shares the honor with Notre Dame's Gia Kvaratskhelia.
The Tiger women went 6 for 6 at the NCAA Championships in earning All-American honors (Chloe Fox-Gitomer, Ryan Jenkins, May Tieu, Maia Weintraub, Jessica Lin, Hadley Husisian), qualifying a finalist in two of the three weapons (Tieu, Lin) and a semifinalist in the other (Fox-Gitomer). Princeton women's fencers won 98 bouts during the pool-bout portion of the NCAA Championships, the most of any program.
The NCAA Championships performance followed Princeton's women winning all three weapon titles at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional (Husisian, Tieu, Fox-Gitomer) and two of the three weapon titles at the Ivy League round-robin (Weintraub, Tieu) on the way to a 6-0 sweep of the league and the Ivy title. Five women's fencers earned All-Ivy League honors, all first-teamers (Weintraub, Tieu, Fox-Gitomer, Husisian, Lin).
