Schreiber, Sowers Help USA Win Gold
July 02, 2023 | Men's Lacrosse
Tom Schreiber and Michael Sowers helped the United States to a 10-7 win over Canada in the gold medal game at the World Championships in San Diego Saturday night.
Duke's Brennan O'Neill, the lone active college player on the team, scored five goals for the U.S., while Schreiber and Sowers combined for three of the other five. Sowers, who had two goals in the final, was named to the All-World Team after finishing with 12 goals and five assists for the tournament.
Schreiber, one of team captains, was slowed by injuries that forced him to miss three of the seven games, but he cashed in the second goal of the final for the Americans. Zach Currier, who also missed half the tournament due to injury, had an assist and three ground balls for Canada.
