World Championships Wrapup: Tigers Well Represented in Milan

Plenty of Princetonians were in competition and on the sideline at the just-completed 2023 World Fencing Championships in Milan, Italy.
The top individual finish among Tigers went to Mohamed Hamza '23, who placed sixth for Egypt in the men's foil competition. Egypt finished ninth as a team.
Among Team USA Princetonians, rising junior Maia Weintraub turned in the top finish, placing 13th individually in women's foil while the Americans finished fourth as a team.
In women's épée, Kasia Nixon '21 finished 34th individually while Katharine Holmes '17 placed 72nd as both Tigers, along with rising sophomore Hadley Husisian, helped Team USA place 10th in the weapon.
In women's saber, Maia Chamberlain '22 finished 24th individually while incoming freshman Tatiana Nazlymov finished 41st as both helped Team USA finish seventh.
In men's épée, rising senior Tristan Szapary finished 27th individually while helping Team USA finish 22nd.
Head coach Zoltan Dudas, assistant coach Oleg Stetsiv and rising junior Nicholas Lawson were among those in the supporting contingent for Team USA.
Along with the pursuit of event titles, the World Fencing Championships helped nations move toward qualification for next year's Olympic Games. Results can be found here.
