Ben Harrington Receives EIVA Offensive Player of the Week Honors

PRINCETON, NJ - In a week filled with competition on the road, Ben Harrington, the senior pin-hitter, exhibited an exceptional performance that left an indelible mark on NCAA volleyball history. The standout moment came during the 3-0 sweep at Queens University of Charlotte on January 8th, where Harrington delivered a staggering 13 service aces, making only two errors. This display not only secured victory for the Tigers, but also established a new NCAA men's single-match record for service aces in a match, surpassing the previous mark of 11 held by four different players. Additionally, Harrington broke his own Tigers' program record of seven aces, showcasing his prowess on the court.
The following night, the Royals bore witness to another standout performance from Harrington, who recorded 18 kills on .531 hitting, accompanied by one ace, seven digs, and four blocks. Despite the following 3-1 loss at No. 3 UC Irvine on January 13the, Harrington continued to make a significant contribution with seven kills, three aces, and two blocks.
Cumulative statistics for the week for Ben Harrington - 33 kills on .278 hitting, 17 aces, eight digs, and seven blocks. Harrington's consistent excellence on the volleyball court is further emphasized by his current status as the national leader in both total aces (17) and aces per set (1.545).
This week's performance earned Harrington the well-deserved distinction of receiving his first EIVA weekly award of the 2024 season, marking the fifth of his collegiate career.
