No. 9 Penn State Outlasts No. 15 Princeton Men’s Volleyball

PRINCETON, NJ - The No. 15 Princeton men's volleyball team got another shot at the 9th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions Saturday evening after falling 3-1 the night before. While Princeton put together a well-rounded team effort, the Nittany Lions edged past the Tigers winning in straight sets, 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-21).
Ben Harrington was the top performer for the Tigers, recording 11 kills, while Nyherowo Omene followed closely with 6 kills. Ryan Vena and Henry Wedbush both contributed 2 service aces each. Additionally, Henry Wedbush excelled in defense, leading the team with 7 digs.
In the first set, the Tigers managed to take their first lead at 19-18, but unfortunately fell short as the Nittany Lions claimed the set with a score of 26-24.
The Nittany Lions began with a lead of 9-6, but the set remained closely contested and tied at 15-15. Nyherowo's strong performance with 6 kills so far in the match pushed them ahead at 19-16. Penn State, however, maintained their momentum and eventually secured the set with a score of 25-20.
The Tigers initially held a narrow lead at 4-3 in the third set. Despite the Nittany Lions taking the lead at 11-9, the Tigers fought back and regained the advantage, notably with a crucial ace from Henry Wedbush. However, Penn State managed to break away, establishing a four-point lead at 18-14 and maintained their dominance until they clinched the set victory.
