McMeekin Named To USILA Team Of The Week
March 26, 2024 | Men's Lacrosse
Andrew McMeekin may be the strongest player the Princeton men's lacrosse program has ever had. In the off-season, he deadlifted 700 pounds. Who else can do that?
This past weekend, he did even better. He carried his entire team through an important Ivy League victory.
McMeekin, a sophomore, went 20 for 29 facing off, with 15 ground balls, a caused turnover and a goal in Princeton's 14-11 win over Harvard. The performance earned him a spot on the USILA Team of the Week.
McMeekin's 20 face-off wins and 15 ground balls were the most by a Princeton player since Zach Currier had 21 and 16 in a 2017 Ivy tournament game against Brown. Through two Ivy League games, McMeekin is now 38 for 60 with 28 ground balls and two goals. In fact, McMeekin has a goal in each of his last three games after not having any for his career prior to that.
Next up for McMeekin and Princeton will be a home game Saturday against Dartmouth (noon), followed by a Tuesday night game at home against Lehigh (7). Princeton has no game the following weekend.
Princeton is ranked 12th in the RPI with a record of 5-3, 1-1 in the Ivy League.
