Women's Volleyball Opens UMBC/Howard Tournament With Loss At Howard

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team dropped its opening match of the UMBC/Howard Tournament Friday night inside Burr Gymnasium to Howard.
Junior Valerie Nutakor's five kills led the Tigers, as did senior Gracie Wood's 19 assists. Sophomore Sydney Bold recorded a team-high six digs.
An early 4-0 run by the Tigers saw Princeton go up 7-3, but the Bison battled their way back into the set with a 6-0 run and jumped ahead, 15-13. Another Howard run, this time 4-0, gave the Bison a 21-16 advantage and Howard would go on to take the first set, 25-20.
Despite two early kills by senior Shelby Fulton, the Bison would go on to prevail in the second set with a score of 25-20.
The Tigers attempted to battle back in the third set, with back-to-back Nutakor kills bringing it within two, 7-5. The Bison responded with a 7-0 and jumped ahead, 13-5. From there, despite Princeton's best efforts, the momentum stayed with Howard as the Bison would prevail in the set, 25-15, and 3-0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-15) in the match.
