Tigers Fall to No. 7 USC in Season Opener

LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Princeton men's volleyball team dropped its first contest of the season to #7 USC on Saturday night on the road in Los Angeles, 3-0. 
Nyherowo Omene led the Tigers with 15 kills on the night, while first-year Mason Rice contributed six kills.
Setter Henry Wedbush had 21 assists on the night, helping the Tiger offense.
On defense, Omene and Roan Alviar had nine and eight digs apiece, respectively.
In set one, an early 7-1 run for the Trojans put USC ahead. Despite the Tigers' offensive efforts, they could not outpace the Trojans and Princeton dropped the set 25-19.
Set two saw USC and Princeton battle it out closely, with the set tied at 15 points apiece and then again at 19. Still, the Tigers would fall short, going down 2-0 with the set ending 25-21.
Princeton took a narrow lead in set three, but the Tigers and Trojans were neck-and-neck as the scores tallied up. With the set tied at 22, a series of attack errors would push USC to win the final set 25-22, ending the match.

Princeton will stay out west, traveling for two matches against the University of Hawaii on Wednesday, January 15 and Friday, January 17, with the first serve set for 7 p.m. HST each night.
