Women’s Tennis Takes Down Harvard, Advances To ITA Kickoff Weekend Championship

ATHENS, GA.- The Princeton women's tennis team traveled down south for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Kickoff Weekend.
In an Ivy League showdown, the Tigers took on the Harvard Crimson in Athens, Ga.. Harvard won the doubles point, but Princeton has been in this position before and knew just how to handle it.
Alice Ferlito picked up the win over Holly Fischer in straight sets before Eva Elbaz followed suit with a victory against Maxi Duncan.
The Crimson earned wins in the next two completed matches and it came down to the final two courts– No. 6 and No. 4. On those courts were two first year Tigers in Pearlie Zhang and Yichen Zhao.
Zhang had won her first singles match this season against Rutgers while Zhao's went unfinished in the 4-1 Princeton victory.
On court six, Zhang was able to close out the crucial third set to set the match at 3-3 and turn the attention to Zhao. After dropping her first set, Zhao battled back and clinched the match 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 to give the Tigers the win.
