
Burriss Has Career Night As Women's Volleyball Downs Harvard, 3-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team made it a third consecutive victory with a 3-1 (25-16, 26-24, 21-25, 25-15) triumph over Harvard inside the Malkin Athletic Center Saturday night.
Shelby Burriss led the way with a match and career-high 19 kills on a .593 hitting percentage, while Lucia Scalamandre added 13 kills on a .593 hitting percentage along with a match-high nine blocks, tying her career-high. Erin McNair also recorded double figure kills with 10 while adding six digs and two service aces. Sydney Draper tallied a match-high 39 assists along with eight digs, and Olivia Foye compiled a team-high 14 digs.
The opening set began as a back-and-forth battle, but with the Tigers up 11-9 a kill by Ava Harrington ignited a 4-0 run that created separation and put Princeton in front, 15-10. A Valerie Nutakor kill led another 4-0 run that saw the Tigers surge ahead, 19-10, as Princeton went on to earn the 25-15 first set victory.
Harvard maintained its momentum early in the fourth set, as the Tigers only led by one at 14-13. A kill by Burriss ignited a 6-0 run that saw Princeton surge ahead, 20-13, then eventually take match point at 24-13 after a Foye service ace. Scalamandre delivered a powerful kill down the middle that on match point, which saw the Tigers prevail, 25-15 in the set and 3-1 in the match.
Princeton hosts Cornell (9-5, 4-0) at 7 p.m. on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. inside Dillon Gymnasium

A Harvard service error gave the Princeton set point at 24-23, but a Crimson kill kept Harvard alive, making it 24-24. The third set was another close one, with a bad set by Harvard followed by a Nutakor kill giving the Tigers a slight advantage at 12-10. Harvard would eventually take the lead and used a 3-0 run to take a 20-17 advantage. From there, the Crimson would go on to win its first set of the match, 25-21.S2: Princeton 10, Harvard 9
