A pair of Princeton alumni advanced to the semifinals at the US Open, which wrapped Oct. 25 at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia.
On the men's side, Youssef Ibrahim '22, seeded in the 5-8 portion of the draw, won three times to reach the semis before a loss to top-seeded and fellow Egyptian Mostafa Asal, who went on to win the title for the second time in five years, adding to his 2021 win.
On the women's side, Olivia (Fiechter) Weaver '18, seeded third, also won three times to make the semis where she also took on a higher-seeded opponent in second-seeded Hania El Hammamy of Egypt. El Hammamy followed up the semifinal win by taking the title.
Both alumni were multi-time All-Americans at Princeton, with Weaver earning four first-team All-American honors from 2015-18 and Ibrahim a three-time first-team honoree in 2018, 2020 and 2022.
