
Women's Volleyball Protects Home Court Against Yale, 3-1

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team protected home court against 2024 Ivy League Tournament champions Yale Saturday night inside Dillon Gymnasium, 3-1 (25-21, 15-25, 25-21, 25-18).
Erin McNair led the Tigers in kills with 16 on a .455 hitting percentage and tallied eight digs along with a career-high six blocks. Valerie Nutakor added 15 kills and seven digs while Lucia Scalamandre finished with 10 kills on a .316 hitting percentage and five blocks. Sydney Draper recorded a match-high 47 assists while Shelby Burriss tallied seven kills on a .500 hitting percentage along with a match and career-high eight blocks. Olivia Foye tied the match-high in digs with 15 and service aces with two.
Ignited by a double block by Scalamandre and Nutakor, Princeton opened the third set with a 6-0 run. While the Bulldogs responded with a 5-0 run, a Burriss kill would soon lead a 5-0 run that put the Tigers back out in front, 15-7. A 6-0 run made it a two-point set at 18-16 but kills by McNair and Draper along with a double block by Burriss and McNair extended Princeton's advantage back out to 23-18. Burriss put down the kill on set point, 25-21, giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Tigers travel to Hanover, New Hampshire, to face Dartmouth (4-9, 1-2) at 6 p.m. on Oct. 10.

While the Tigers took an early 6-4 advantage, a kill by Nutakor ignited a 5-0 run that put Princeton up seven, 11-4. A pair of Scalamandre kills along with a McNair kill put the Tigers ahead by nine at 15-6 and while the Bulldogs were able to narrow the deficit to three at 24-21, a double block by Scalamandre and McNair gave Princeton the 25-21 first set victory."We refocused, we know what kind of team we are."

Yale got off to a strong start in the second set, using a 4-0 run to jump out to a 6-1 advantage. The Bulldogs extended their lead to eight at 17-9, but a Nutakor kill led a 4-0 run made it a four-point set, 17-13. Yale closed the set out as it started and went on to win it, 25-15, to tie the match at 1-1.S1: Princeton 22, Yale 15

The fourth set was played to a 5-5 stalemate, but a kill by McNair ignited a 4-0 run that saw Princeton take a 9-5 advantage. Another 4-0 run would put the Tigers ahead 15-9 and Princeton would on from there; Scalamandre gave the Tigers match point at 24-18 then produced a second consecutive give Princeton a 25-18 triumph in the fourth set, a 3-1 victory in the match.S3: Princeton 5, Yale 0
