Nyherowo Omene Named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – After earning a career-high 27 kills against Charleston on Saturday, Nyherowo Omene was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Omene posted 27-4-43 hitting for an impressive .535 percent. He also added an assist, an ace, six digs and 4.0 blocks on the night.
The performance marked the first time a Tiger has made 27 or more kills in a single game since 2019, when George Huhmann had 28 against Harvard.
On Friday against Charleston, Omene also had a strong 18-7-43 day, hitting .333 percent with another ace, another assist, five more digs and two blocks.
On the week, he averaged 5.63 kills per set and 6.39 points per set.
The weekly award is Omene's second of the season, as he was named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on February 3rd. It is the third weekly nod of his career.
Omene currently leads the EIVA, averaging 4.06 kills per set. He also leads the EIVA with 0.52 aces per set, adding to his 116 career total, which puts him first in the league and fifth nationally across DI.
The senior also leads the Tigers with 24.0 blocks this season, putting him at eighth in the EIVA.
Omene was named an EIVA preseason player to watch after being named to the All-EIVA First Team last season.
In 2024, Omene was among the leaders for Princeton in three stat categories, recording a second-best 311 kills and 36 service aces while notching a fourth-best 77 digs.
Omene and the Tigers will be back in action this Friday to host EIVA foe NJIT at 7 p.m. in Dillon Gym.
