February 03, 2025 | Men's Volleyball
PRINCETON, N.J. – After a standout performance on Friday night, Nyherowo Omene was named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Against FDU, Omene recorded a squad-high 13 kills, with zero errors on 16 attempts for an impressive .813 hitting percentage.
What's more impressive, however, was Omene's six service aces, including five-consecutive aces to end the third set and deliver Princeton the 3-0 sweep.
Omene is the EIVA active career leader in service aces with 110, which also ties him for fifth nationally among D1 volleyball players.
An all-around outstanding player, Omene also recorded a team-high 6 digs and five block assists against FDU.
The EIVA honor is Omene's, and Princeton's, first of the season. He also earned the award once last season.
Omene currently leads the Tigers and ranks second in the EIVA in kills per set with 3.52. He is also second in the league in hitting percentage, averaging .369. Omene also leads the Tigers in points, with 92.5, and blocks with 13.0.
The senior was named an EIVA preseason player to watch after being named to the All-EIVA First Team last season.
In 2024, Omene was among the leaders for Princeton in three stat categories, recording a second-best 311 kills and 36 service aces while notching a fourth-best 77 digs.
Omene and the Tigers will be back in action this Friday, concluding their four-game homestand with a match against LIU at 7 p.m. in Dillon Gym.
