Croddick Named Ivy Defensive Player Of The Week Again; Tigers Up To No. 2
March 10, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
There have been six games in Division I men's lacrosse this season in which a goalie has made 22 or more saves. Princeton's Ryan Croddick owns two of those six.
Not surprisingly, he has been the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week after both of those performances. The first one came after his 22-save day at Penn State in the season opener. Most recently, there was the 24-save night in Princeton's 11-5 win over Rutgers this past Saturday, an outing that again earned Croddick the league's weekly honor.
Croddick's 24 saves tied the Sherrerd Field record for a single game and were the most by a Princeton goalie this century. There have been seven games in the last 25 years where a Princeton goalie has had at least 20 saves, with Croddick's two, along with two from Michael Gianforcaro and one each for Erik Peters, Tyler Blaisdell and Alex Hewit.
Croddick, a first-year starter, ranks second in Division I in saves per game with 15.20.
Princeton improved to 4-1 with the win over Rutgers and moved up to the No. 2 ranking in the Kane Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, behind only Maryland, the only team to defeat Princeton this season. The Tigers have wins over No. 4 Penn State, No. 5 North Carolina and No. 8 Duke.
It doesn't get any easier, as Princeton's next two games are at No. 6 Cornell and home against No. 13 Harvard in the first Ivy League games.
