Omene Named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week For Third Time This Season

PRINCETON, N.J. – After leading the Princeton offense in its first win over Daemen on Saturday, Nyherowo Omene was named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced Monday.
Omene posted an impressive 18 kills on Saturday, going along with just three errors on 27 attempts for a whopping .556 percent. He also added five aces on the night for 23.5 points, helping the Tigers to a 3-1 win.
The weekly award is Omene's third of the season, as he was named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on February 3rd and February 24th. It is the fourth weekly nod of his career.
Omene currently leads the EIVA, averaging 4.22 kills per set. He also is second in the EIVA with 0.42 aces per set, adding to his 122 career total, which puts him first in the league and eighth nationally across DI.
The South Holland, Ill. native is a top-10 EIVA leader in five stat categories, including kills per set, aces, hitting percentage (third, .356), blocks (10th, 0.75/s) and points, in which he leads the league with 5.08 per set.
Omene was named an EIVA preseason player to watch after being named to the All-EIVA First Team last season.
In 2024, Omene was among the leaders for Princeton in three stat categories, recording a second-best 311 kills and 36 service aces while notching a fourth-best 77 digs.
Omene and the Tigers will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Sacred Heart for a weekend series, taking on the Pioneers at 7 p.m. before facing them again on Saturday at 4 p.m.
