Men's Volleyball to Celebrate Omene, Wedbush for 2025 Senior Day

PRINCETON, N.J. – Hosting Harvard for its final regular season home game of 2025, the Princeton men’s volleyball team will celebrate its Class of 2025 with senior day on Saturday.
In the Class of ‘25, Princeton men’s volleyball boasts two outstanding leaders in Nyherowo Omene and Henry Wedbush.
#25 Nyherowo Omene
Omene, an architecture major from South Holland, Ill., has been dominant for the Tigers all season.
Omene currently leads the EIVA in service aces (0.48/s) and points (5.05/s), while ranking second in kills (4.12/s) and hitting percentage (.334). He has earned EIVA weekly honors four times this season.
Omene is also an active career leader in aces and kills, leading the EIVA in aces and ranking fifth nationally with 132. In kills, Omene sits at 963, which puts him at eighth nationally and second in the league.
Omene has been a consistent player for the Tigers across his four years, leading Princeton in blocks during his freshman and sophomore seasons before becoming an offensive leader last year.
A leader on and off the court, Omene serves as the Lead Building Supervisor for Princeton’s Campus Recreation department. He is also on the leadership team for the Princeton Black Student Athlete Collective.
In tandem with his studies, Omene also helped found the Princeton Architecture Club.
If that all sounds like a lot, Omene also manages to keep up with hobbies outside of his campus involvements, including collage-making, photography, and DJ-ing.
Omene is writing his senior thesis on the hybridization of Nigerian indigenous architecture and British colonial imperialism. Following graduation, he will look to work in finance in Los Angeles, California.
Looking back on his time with the Tigers, his favorite memories have included trips to California with the team each winter break, and winning the EIVA championship in 2022.
“I knew this day would come when I’d be thinking about all my lasts here that are upcoming and reflecting on my firsts,” Omene said, as he approaches senior day. “It’s been an arduous yet extremely rewarding four years and I couldn’t have drawn it up any better. The only thing left is to go get that ring!”
#12 Henry Wedbush
Wedbush, an economics major from Manhattan Beach, Calif., has been a critical piece of the Tigers’ success over his four years in the Orange & Black.
A 2024 First Team All-EIVA honoree, Wedbush has led the Tigers in assists for the past two years, continuing the trend this season. He currently leads Princeton and ranks third in the EIVA with 9.12 assists a set.
Combining his passion for sports into his studies, Wedbush’s senior thesis is: “Quantifying Performance: An Empirical Study of Compensation in Professional Sports.”
On campus, Wedbush is also involved in the Ivy Club, in which he boasts the title of 2024 pool champion.
Wedbush also loves spending time with his teammates, whether it's playing darts or trips to his home state of California. Keeping with that state pride, Wedbush is also a huge fan of the LA Chargers.
After training with the USA’s Pan-American team for the last three summers, Wedbush hopes to play volleyball professionally following graduation.
Wedbush’s time at Princeton has been special, including a 2022 EIVA Championship and two years spent on the team with his older brother Brady. But before he looks beyond Princeton, Wedbush hopes to accomplish more this season.
“It's extremely bittersweet to be heading into senior day,” said Wedbush. “In the past few months I have started to play my best volleyball and had an enthusiasm for my schoolwork, but just when things start to click is when it's time to say goodbye. Hopefully we can end this season with a BANG!”
