Ryan Croddick Named Ivy Defensive Player Of The Week For The Third Time
April 28, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
Ryan Croddick ended the regular season the way he began it, as the Ivy League's Defensive Player of the Week. He also had another one in between.
Croddick, the Princeton men's lacrosse team's junior goalie, earned his third Ivy Defensive Player of the Week award of the season after a 19-save, seven-goals-against performance Saturday against Yale. Croddick previously won the award after a 22-save outing in a win at Penn State and a 24-save outing in a win over Rutgers.
A first-year starter, Croddick leads the Ivy League in all three major statistical categories for goalies: save percentage (.604), goals-against (9.82) and saves per game (14.77). He is also third in Division I in save percentage and second in Division I in saves per game.
Croddick's save percentage is the best by a Princeton goalie since Tyler Fiorito in 2011, and his goals-against is the best since Fiorito in 2012.
Princeton's win over Yale completed an 11-2 regular season. The Tigers, who are ranked second nationally in both the polls and in RPI, will play in the Ivy tournament semifinals as the second seed Friday at approximately 6:30 against third-seeded Harvard, after the first game between host and top-seeded Cornell and fourth-seeded Yale at 4. The winners meet Sunday at 1 for the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, whose selections will be announced Sunday night at 9:30
Regardless of the outcome of the ILT, Princeton will be in the NCAA tournament for the fourth straight year, with a likely high seed and home game in the first round May 10-11.
