Mackesy Named USILA First-Team All-American; Seven Tigers Honored In All
May 22, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
Coulter Mackesy's Princeton men's lacrosse resume was already pretty crowded. Now he'll have to find room for one more entry.
Â
Mackesy, already a Tewaaraton Award finalist and the all-time leading goal scorer in program history, has been named a USILA first-team All-American. Mackesy was one of seven Tigers to be honored by the vote of the USILA committee.
Â
Colin Mulshine, a senior defenseman, was a second-team selection, while junior midfielder Chad Palumbo was named to the third team. Princeton had four honorable mention selections: sophomore attackman Nate Kabiri, sophomore midfielder Tucker Wade, sophomore shortstick defensive midfielder Cooper Mueller and junior goalie Ryan Croddick.
Â
Mackesy will attend the Tewaaraton ceremony Thursday, May 29, as one of five men's finalists. He finished his senior season with 44 goals and 19 assists as Princeton went 13-4, reached the NCAA quarterfinals and spent the entire season in the top seven nationally. He holds the Princeton records for goals in a career (167) and single season (55 in 2023), and his 248 points (167G, 81A) are second all-time at Princeton. He was the No. 4 overall selection in the PLL Draft, by the Boston Cannons.
Â
Mulshine was a four-year started on defense who regularly guarded the other team's top attackman. Mulshine, a two-time first-team All-Ivy League selection, had eight caused turnvoers and 16 ground balls this season. He also committed only two penalties in his entire career, both of which were 30-second holds. Mulshine has signed with the Boston Cannons of the PLL.
Â
Palumbo followed up a big sophomore season with a bigger junior year, finishing with 28 goals and 19 assists. He also tied the program record for goals in an NCAA tournament game with six against Syracuse in the quarterfinals, where his eight points were the second-highest single-game NCAA total in Princeton history.
Â
Kabiri had 32 goals and 29 assists, becoming the first Princeton player with at least 30 goals and 25 assists as both a freshman and sophomore. Wade had 27 goals and eight assists, joining his father Ryan (UNC) as a USILA All-American.
Â
Mueller became the first Princeton shortstick ever to put up these numbers without ever taking a face-off: six goals, 12 caused turnovers and 36 ground balls. Croddick's 241 saves were the second-most ever by a Princeton goalie in a single-season; he also became the first Princeton goalie in 52 years to have three points (all assists) in a season. Â
