Jake Stevens Wins PLL Championship With New York Atlas
September 15, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
Jake Stevens has become the latest Princeton alum to win a Premier League Championship.Â
Stevens, who graduated from Princeton in 2023 and then played one graduate season at Syracuse, won his championship Sunday afternoon, when his New York Atlas defeated the Denver Outlaws 14-13 in the final, played in Harrison, N.J.Â
In winning the title, Stevens ensured that at least one Princetonian has been on the league champ for the fourth straight year. The previous winners were Zach Currier and Michael Sowers with the Waterdogs in 2022, Ryan Ambler and Tom Schreiber with the Archers in 2023 and then Schreiber, Ambler and Beau Pederson with the Archers a year ago. Former Tiger goalie Brian Kavanagh was an assistant coach under former Princeton head coach Chris Bates on the two championships won by the Archers.Â
Stevens, a two-way middie and wingman on face-offs, scored nine goals during the regular season and another in the PLL semifinal win over the Waterdogs. He finished this season with 10 groundballs as well, and he had eight goals and two assists in 2024 as a rookie.
Stevens was a three-time All-American at Princeton and a key member of the 2022 NCAA Final Four team, with 22 goals and 64 groundballs that season. He was on the Ivy League all-tournament team as a senior after he scored six goals on six shots in the final against Yale, for the second-best single-game Ivy tournament performance in program history.Â
