Saris Taken Fifth Overall In NLL Draft; Mackesy Goes To San Diego
September 06, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
Braedon Saris has become the latest Princeton men's lacrosse alum to be headed to the professional ranks. Saris, a member of the Class of 2025, was the No. 5 overall selection in the National Lacrosse League draft, chosen by the Colorado Mammoth.Â
The 6-3 Canadian, who attended Culver Military Academy prior to Princeton, scored 11 goals this past season as Princeton went 13-4 and reached the NCAA quarterfinals.Â
Coulter Mackesy, a first-round pick in the most recent Premier Lacrosse League draft, was chosen in Round 4 in this NLL draft. Mackesy went to the San Diego Seals with the 51st overall selection.Â
According to the Inside Lacrosse NLL Draft preview by Stephen Stamp: It is almost too good to be true for them that Saris could still be there when they go on the clock at No. 5. Some observers think he is the best player in this draft. He was the MSL Rookie of the Year last summer, and this year he led the Lakers in playoff goal scoring with 16. That was four more than the quartet that finished second, three of whom — Joe Resetarits, Holden Cattoni and Thomas Hoggarth — are well established NLL stars (the fourth was Taite Cattoni, who could be a popular free agent target after a strong scoring summer in Peterborough).Â
Saris' time at Princeton was slowed by injuries. In all, he was limited to 35 games as a versatile attackman, middie or man-up specialist. He finished with 18 goals and 18 assists.Â
Mackesy finished his career as Princeton's all-time leading goal scorer with 167. His 248 career points rank second all-time at Princeton, trailing only Michael Sowers.Â
Mackesy played for the Boston Cannons in the PLL this season, scoring 15 goals and adding five assists.Â

Happy Senior Day Braedon Saris. That's his second of the day. End of three: Princeton 13, Yale 3.
