Tigers Help U.S. to Women's Épée Gold at World Cup

A trio of Princetonians helped USA Fencing to gold at the women's épée World Cup event in Fujairah, UAE, on Jan. 11.

Junior Hadley Husisian, sophomore Leehi Machulsky and Kasia Nixon '21, and teammate Kyle Fallon, helped Team USA past Iran 45-12 in the round of 32, past Canada 45-32 in the round of 16, past Germany 29-23 in the quarterfinals, past Hungary 45-37 in the semis, and past South Korea 45-40 in the final to win gold.

In the individual competition, Husisian won bronze, winning four times to advance through the bracket to reach the semis before a 12-11 loss to eventual runner-up Marie-Florence Candassamy of France.

Back stateside at the Junior Olympics in Kansas City, freshman Jacob Lee finished second in the men's foil competition, and fellow rookie Lydia Shen took 12th in the women's foil event.
