February 17, 2026 | Women's Volleyball
PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton University women's volleyball head coach Sabrina King announced Milexa Cardona as an assistant coach Tuesday afternoon.
"We are thrilled to welcome Milexa Cardona," said King. "She has coaching experience at many levels — club, community college and DI. She was a student manager working in a technical role with Arizona State when they won their first Big 12 Championship.
Milexa will work with our setters, and I know her passion for that specific skill will be contagious. Overall, we are excited about her ability to relationship-build and uplift our female student-athletes in their journey."
Cardona served as a manager at Arizona State in 2024 where she was part of a Big 12 Championship. Cardona cleaned and coded matches using Volleystation and Volleymetrics, kept detailed statistics during practices and assisted with practice and match equipment setup and breakdown.
"I'm incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Princeton Volleyball," said Cardona. "It's an honor to be part of a program with such a strong culture and competitive standard. A commitment to excellence both on and off the court has always shaped my journey, and I'm excited to be part of a program that truly shares those same values."
From October 2023 to July 2024, Cardona was a coach at the Top Select Volleyball Academy in Orlando, Florida, where she earned the 2023-2024 Assistant Coach of the Year Award.
In addition, Cardonia served as assistant coach and interim head coach at Polk State from September 2023 to March 2024.
Outside of volleyball, Cardona was an anchor and producer with Cronkite News from August 2024 to August 2025. She was also a sports journalist intern at Howard in 2022 and worked as a color analyst during conference matches for the team.
As a player, Cardona began her collegiate career at Delaware State in 2018. She led the team with 695 assists, ranked eighth in the conference in assists-per-set (7.02), and led the team with 33 service aces while also earning a spot on the Dean's List. Cardona continued her career at Polk State in 2019, where she averaged 9.12 assists and helped her team reach the NJCAA Final Four and earn the program's first-ever No. 1 national ranking. Cardona was also named Second Team All-Suncoast Conference. Cardona then played at Howard, where she led the team in total assists and service aces during the 2020 season (played in spring 2021). In 2021, she averaged a team-best 6.22 assists per set as Howard beat Delaware State MEAC title and an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.
Cardona earned an Associate in Arts from Polk State in 2019, a Bachelor in Media, Journalism and Film along with a minor in Spanish from Hard in 2022, and a Masters in Sports Journalism from Arizona State in 2025.
