Wrestling Falls to Cornell, 31-5

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton wrestling team fell to Cornell, 31-5, on Saturday night in Jadwin Gym. Marc-Anthony McGowan and Ty Whalen picked up wins in the dual.
McGowan started the Tigers off at 125 with a 6-2 decision over Greg Diakomihalis, getting a key reversal and making a clinical takedown in the third period to earn the arm raise.
Ethan Rivera was up next at 133, making an early takedown against #16 Tyler Ferrara and controlling the match before conceding a stall point and a takedown late in the match, falling 6-5 despite his efforts.
Whalen had a solid match against Benny Rogers, making two key takedowns while putting on a solid defensive performance as he took an 8-3 decision.
At 174, Holden Garcia put up a strong fight against #2 Simon Ruiz, getting some dangerous looks early before ultimately conceding a takedown to fall 5-1.
Conor McCloskey also had a close bout at 197, conceding a takedown to fall just short against Carson Crace.

The Tigers will hit the mat again next Saturday for their final home dual of the season against Penn. The first match will begin at 12 p.m. in Jadwin Gym.
