Women's Lacrosse Claims Top-20 Clash With Penn State, 14-11

No. 19 Princeton (3-3, 1-0 Ivy) staked itself to a huge lead in the first half and staved off a furious comeback from No. 18 Penn State (9-1, 3-0 Big Ten) to hand the Nittany Lions their first loss of the season inside Holuba Hall in Happy Valley.
Haven Dora led all players with six points, scoring three times and adding three assists. Jami MacDonald and Ella Sloan each had four goals in the game, with Sloan adding four draw controls.
Amelia Hughes made 10 saves in the win, including four saves in the second quarter as the Tigers built an 11-4 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the scoring streak belonged to Penn State as the Nittany Lions scored six in a row over a span of 10:11 to all but erase Princeton's lead and make it a 12-11 game with 9:49 to play.

How It Happened
- Princeton scored the first three goals of the game, building a 3-0 lead over the first 3:17 of the contest with goals from Haven Dora, Maggie Molnar and Meg Morrisroe.
- Penn State countered with two goals 1:54 to close to within one.
- The Tigers would shift momentum back their way with goals off the sticks of Ella Sloan and Dora 1:21 apart to lead, 5-2, after the first quarter.
- Eventually, Princeton's run increased to 7-0 as the Tigers held Penn State off the scoreboard for over 15:00 of game play to build up a 10-2 lead.
- The goals over that run came from MacDonald (3), Dora (2) and Sloan (2) as the Tigers had a three-pronged attack.
- The Nittany Lions scored twice to creep back a bit, but MacDonald's fourth goal of the first half sent Princeton to halftime with an 11-4 lead.
- The third quarter was all Penn State as the Nittany Lions outscored Princeton, 4-1, in the period to get to within four entering the final quarter.
- Eventually, Penn State's scoring run reached six in a row to close Princeton's lead to 12-11 with 9:49 to play in the fourth quarter.
