Whitfield Named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Tristan Whitfield was named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
As the Tigers dropped two hard-fought contests to Sacred Heart this weekend, Whitfield excelled as he tallied a .591 hitting percentage with 13 kills and a total of nine blocks on the weekend.
Putting on a defensive masterclass while making zero attack errors on the weekend, Whitfield kicked things off in game one with 7-0-10 (.700) hitting, four blocks and five digs. He also added an ace for 10 points.
In game two, Whitfield hit 6-0-12 (.500) while adding five blocks and five digs again.
Junior middleblocker Whitfield has played 59 sets for the Tigers this season, making 81 kills for .457 hitting and ranking fourth in the EIVA with 1.00 blocks a set.
Whitfield and the Tigers will be back in action this weekend as they take on George Mason in a two-game series in Fairfax, Va.
