Finalists Announced For Art Lane Award

Six Princeton student-athletes have been named finalists for the 2026 Art Lane '34 Award, which is presented annually to undergraduate student-athletes in recognition of selfless contribution to sport and society.
The Art Lane '34 Award will be presented at the Gary Walters '67 Princeton Varsity Club Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 21st starting at 5:00 p.m. ET. For more information on the 2026 banquet, click here.

CHARLOTTE COX | MEN'S LIGHTWEIGHT ROWING
Charlotte Cox has been an integral member of the men's lightweight rowing program, serving as coxswain for the 2nd, 3rd and 4thvarsity 8+ boats throughout her time at Princeton.
Off the water, Cox has helped lead the STEM to Stern program, bringing together each of the four teams in the Princeton boathouse, to teach STEM curriculum and the sport of rowing to underserved students in the Trenton community. Additionally, Cox serves as a head coach with the New Jersey Special Olympics, helping to create an inclusive environment for adults and children of all abilities to learn how to row.
Cox is a member of Varsity Athlete Pre-Medical Society and serves as a Health Professions Advisor to mentor student-athletes pursuing future careers in the medical field. A lead volunteer with the Princeton Red Cross, Cox organizes local blood drives to increase donor participation, in addition to working with the Penn Medical Center to aid nursing staff and support patients undergoing various treatments.
A molecular biology major from Los Angeles, Calif., Cox is pursuing certificates in engineering biology and quantitative and computational biology.
ZACH FRIEDMAN | MEN'S LACROSSE
A senior defenseman for Princeton men's lacrosse, Zach Friedman helped the Tigers to both the Ivy League regular season title and Ivy Tournament championship this spring en route to a fifth straight NCAA appearance as the Tournament's top overall seed.
Friedman has been a two-year President of the Princeton Best Buddies chapter, a national organization that promotes friendship and inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities. In this role, Friedman oversaw all of the volunteers and matches on Princeton's campus, in addition to partnering with The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) to host an annual Best Buddies Field Day event.
A treasurer of the Varsity Athlete Pre-Medical Society, Friedman mentors student-athletes interested in the medical field and serves as a Student-Athlete Wellness leader to increase resources for student-athletes and mental health. Friedman also supports his team as a SCORRE leader to foster an inclusive program environment and promote healthy relationships among his teammates.
From Arvada, Colo., Friedman is a politics major studying in the School of Public and International Affairs.
LUCIA SCALAMANDRE | WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
A three-time Ivy League Champion, Lucia Scalamandre led Princeton women's volleyball to both the Ivy regular season and Tournament championships this past fall. The former Ivy League Rookie of the Year and four-time All-Ivy honoree finished her career second all-time in program history for career blocks.
As a Goodwill Ambassador, Scalamandre helped to form new community partnerships and grow her team's involvement with service. She also serves on the Student-Athlete Service Council to spearhead volunteer opportunities department-wide, mentors aspiring college athletes through the Athlete-to-Athlete initiative and serves on the USG Academic Committee.
Off campus, Scalamandre educates middle school students in Trenton through the Perfect City Service Focus Cohort. Additionally, Scalamandre has worked with the Department of Housing and Urban Development and supported youth experiencing homelessness in her hometown through the nonprofit organization My Friend's Place.
A Schaeffer Fellow in Government Service From Topanga, Calif., Scalamandre is politics major completing a minor in values and public life.
GEORGINA SCOOT | WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Georgina Scoot of Princeton women's track & field is a seven-time Ivy Champion across the long jump and triple jump and earned First Team All-American honors in the 2026 indoor triple jump. Scoot has garnered two Heps Most Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet honors as part of helping Princeton to three consecutive track & field team titles heading into the 2026 Outdoor Championships.
Off the track, Scoot has dedicated herself to serving her teammates and community. She leads volunteer efforts as a women's track Community Outreach Leader, fostering partnerships with the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, Arm in Arm Mobile Pantry and Cornerstone Kitchen. She has also volunteered abroad, working with the nonprofit Asia Foundation in Malaysia to address social and economic challenges.
Scoot is a member of the Princeton Women in Economics and Policy, and an Undergraduate Associate for the Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance. She also serves on the Special Political and Decolonization Committee for the Model United Nations, focusing on human rights.
From Maypool, U.K., Scoot is graduating from the school of public and international affairs with a minor in urban studies.
JAYDEN SISON | MEN'S ICE HOCKEY
Jayden Sison is a senior defenseman for Princeton men's ice hockey, having helped the Tigers to the ECAC Tournament Championship game for the first time since 2018. A finalist for this year's national Hockey Humanitarian Award, Sison has been instrumental in shaping his team's culture, and was recognized for his exceptional leadership and volunteerism in the community.
Off the ice, Sison displays an unwavering commitment to service, having helped launch the Tiger Pals mentoring program where he serves as a role model to local elementary students. He has also been an instrumental leader with Team Impact, an organization that pairs children with serious illnesses with college teams, and helped Princeton hockey welcome 10-year old Grayson as their newest teammate this season.
As a member of the Princeton Student-Athlete Service Council, Sison has helped lead and create broader service initiatives for all Princeton student-athletes on campus. Additionally, Sison gives back to younger hockey players in his hometown, facilitating youth hockey clinics through the Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education Foundation.
From Paoli, Pa., Sison is a politics major completing a minor in history.
JADEN WEDDERBURN | FOOTBALL
A senior offensive lineman for Princeton football, Jaden Wedderburn has been a servant leader for both his team and team community throughout his Tiger career.
Wedderburn has been deeply involved in the local community, helping connect middle school students at Christina Seix Academy with Trenton community leaders to explore topics around urban planning and public policy as part of the Perfect City Service Focus project. Additionally, he served as a team lead for Urban Promise Trenton where he developed a curriculum for a youth mentorship and empowerment program. Wedderburn also worked in the office of NJ Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson as a team-lead for the Social Justice Group.
Back on campus, Wedderburn has been an active leader with the Black Student-Athlete Collective, volunteered as a Vote 100 Ambassador and served as a Yeh College councilmen. He partnered with the Keller Center for Innovation to co-found EVAL, an online platform that evaluates talent and helps high school Esport athletes turn their passions into careers.
Wedderburn is an anthropology major from Glassboro, N.J., pursuing certificates in law, politics, and economics.
