Men's Hockey Announces Class of 2019

PRINCETON, N.J. (7/15/15) - Princeton head men's hockey coach Ron Fogarty and his coaching staff announce the recruiting class of six student-athletes that will join the team as the Class of 2019.
“My assistants Brad Dexter and Stavros Paskaris did a great job in recruiting and rounding out the Class of 2019,” Fogarty said. “The six players are eager to be a part of the rebuilding process and becoming role models in the Princeton community. Their transition to college will be seamless, as they are exceptional students that have a drive to get better everyday, on and off the ice.”
Alex Riche, 6-0/190, Center, Oakville, Ont./Cobourg Cougars (OJHL)
Riche spent three years in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), most recently with the Cobourg Cougars. He also spent a season and a half with the Milton Icehawks, and had a brief stint with the Oakville Blades. During his OJHL career, Riche averaged 1.05 points per game, with 110 points on 44 goals and 66 assists in 105 games. In 2014-15 he collected 27 points in 22 games with Milton, before finishing the season with Cobourg. Riche scored 27 points in 30 regular-season games before adding five more points in 10 playoff games as the Cougars reached the conference semifinals.
A 2013-14 OJHL first-team all-prospect player, Riche was also named to the 2015 roster for the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Prospects Games.
A 2014 graduate of T.A. Blakelock High School, Riche also was a varsity letterwinner in baseball.
Ryan Kuffner, 6-1/185, Left Wing, Ottawa, Ont./Gloucester Rangers (CCHL)
A 2014 graduate of Glebe College Institute, Kuffner played the last two seasons with the Gloucester Rangers of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). He was assistant captain this past season when the team made its first CCHL playoff appearance and finished third in its division. Kuffner was the CCHL Player of the Month and was one of the All-Canada Three Stars during the month of October in 2014. At the conclusion of the season, he had earned a spot on the WJAC Team Canada East and the CCHL Yzerman All-Star Team. Kuffner is also a two-time member of the CCHL All-Academic Team.
Prior to joining the Rangers, Kuffner spent four years with the Ottawa Jr. 67s organization. In 2013, he won the Eric Leighton Memorial Cup as the league’s leading scorer and was ranked as the sixth-best midget player in Canada with 63 points in 28 games. That season, as the team MVP, Kuffner and the 67s won the Ontario Provincial Championship as the Ontario East MinorHockey League (OEMHL) and playoff champions. The team went on to earn the silver medial at the Telus Cup national championship.
Kuffner was also named the Team Canada East at the 2015 World Junior A Challenge.
A a tennis and golf letterwinner at Glebe, Kuffner was three-time Golfer of the Year and three-time doubles champion at Glebe.
Spencer Kryczka, 6-2/205, Center, Calgary, Alb./Camrose Kodiaks (AJHL)
Kryczka has spent four years in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), playing two and a half seasons with the Okotoks Oilers and one and half seasons with the Camrose Kodiaks. In 203 games he scored 31 goals and 44 assists while serving 399 penalty minutes. In addition he appeared in 39 playoff games and scored 16 post-season points. This past year, the Kodiaks were semifinalists in the AJHL playoffs, as Kryczka had 10 points in 12 playoffs games as well as 30 points in 49 regular-season games to go along with 107 penalty minutes.
Kryczka was also a member of the Calgary Royals organization from 2009-11.
A 2013 graduate of Western Canada High School, Kryczka lettered in track & field. He was the 2011 Junior Boys Track Athlete of the Year and went on the finish third in the 400, fourth in the 200, fifth in the high jump in the city of Calgary.
Austin Shaw, 6-4/205, Goalie, Denver, Colo./Wichita Falls (NAHL)
A 2014 graduate of Mountain Vista High School, Shaw played the 2014-15 season with the Wichita Fall Wildcats of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The team had the best win percentage in the league, finishing as the runner-up in the playoffs. In 43 games played, Shaw posted a .902 save percentage and a 2.88 goals against average. In five playoff games he put together a .901 save percentage and a 2.67 GAA. Shaw spent the 2012-13 season with the Colorado Thunderbirds U16. There he gathered a 0.98 GAA and a.940 save percentage in 21 contests.
Shaw lettered in lacrosse at Mountain Vista.
Josh Teves, 6-0/170, Defender, Calgary, Alb./Merritt Centennials (BCHL)
Teves spent the last season with the Merritt Centennials of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). He was named the 2015 Royal Bank Cup (RBC) National Junior A Scholarship award winner, while also earning the Coach’s Choice award and the Most Improved award. Teves played in 57 games and scored five goals and 28 assists for 33 points, while collecting 39 penalty minutes. In four playoff games, as Merritt finished third in the Interior Division, Teves earned two assists.
He spent the 2013-14 season with the Fernia Ghostriders (KIJHL) after a two-season stint with the Calgary Royals (HCMAA and AMHL).
Teves is a 2013 graduate of West Island College.
Max Véronneau, 6-0/180, Right Wing, Ottawa, Ont./Gloucester Rangers (CCHL)
Véronneau played the last two years with the Gloucester Rangers (CCHL). He was the assistant captain this past season and earned his teams playoff MVP trophy with four points in six playoff games. The Rangers were third in the Yzerman Division standings and took sixth in the CCHL playoffs. Véronneau was invited to the 2015 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge, as a member of Team CCHL Yzerman. In his two seasons with the Rangers, Véronneau collected 116 points in 88 games on 55 goals and 61 assists.
In 2012-13 he was named the Rookie of the Year as his team, the Ottawa Jr. Canadians won the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJHL). The previous season hehad the most assists in the OEMHL as a member of the Ottawa Jr. 67s.
A 2013 graduate of École Secondaire Catholique Franco-Cite, Véronneau also lettered in lacrosse and football. During his senior year the football team was the runner-up in the city of Ottawa.
