2022: Made a positional switch to libero early in the season ... finished third on the team in digs per set with 1.19 and total digs with 87 ... appeared in 20 matches and 73 sets ... had a season-high 17 kills and hit .467 at Harvard on Mar. 4 ... had a season-high nine digs at George Mason on Feb. 26 ... recorded a season-high six blocks at NJIT on Feb. 12 ... finished with eight digs against Saint Francis (PA) on Mar. 19.
2021: Season canceled due to COVID-19.
2020: Finished top-10 in the EIVA in kills and kills per set with 152 and 2.92…finished with 67 digs, 27 blocks and 14 service aces…appeared in all 15 matches…had eight matches with double figure kills…recorded a season-high 23 kills at George Mason on Feb. 22…finished with a season-best nine digs against Sacred Heart on Feb. 28...season was cut short due to COVID-19.
2019: Contributed in 25 games … Collected 39 kills and 25 service aces … One of his best outings included six kills and seven digs at George Mason Mar. 29).
Before Princeton: Member of the 2017 USA Volleyball Youth National Team; scored the third-most points for Team USA during the Championships in Bahrain (Sam Shweisky was the Team USA head coach) … 2017 FloVolleyball and Volleyball Magazine High School All-American … two-time West Catholic League Player of the Year … selected to the 2016 USA Youth Indoor Holiday Camp … led St. Francis to multiple Top-3 finishes in the CIF NorCal playoffs, as well as two league titles and one sectional title … club team won five national qualifiers and reached quarterfinal at the 17 Open Boys Junior Nationals … won the 2017 SCVA Winter Classic and had two top-three SCVA Summer Classic finishes … played competitive basketball growing up, but ultimately chose to focus solely on volleyball … graduated Summa Cum Laude … National Honor Society member … AP Scholar with Distinction.
Personal: Born April 12, 2000 … son of Nels and Doreen Nelsen … has two older sisters, Brenna and Kaley; Brenna was a varsity golfer at Harvard … enjoys music, sports, and travel … majoring in Operations Research and Financial Engineering at Princeton.
