PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to three games this evening with a scoreless tie with the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights. The Tigers are now 7-3-1 on the season and FDU is now 7-4-3.
As the records showed, the two teams were even coming into the game and tonight's game supported the stats. Princeton held an 11-9 advantage in shots, FDU had five corner kicks to Princeton's four, fouls were 13-11 in favor of the Tigers. After 120 minutes of play, the one statistic that counted the most, the score, also showed that the teams were even.
Sixteen different players saw action for the Tigers. Several players had chances at the end of regulation and during the first overtime but could not connect. Matt Striebel (Jr., Gill, Mass.) had a good scoring chance in the second extra stanza, but his header sailed over the net.
Jason White (Fr., Maple Glen. Pa.) made four saves on the nine Knight shots to earn his second straight shutout and his fifth of the season. Fairleigh Dickinson keeper Eric Montoya had six saves in the game.
Princeton will look to extend its streak to four on Wednesday night against Villanova at Lourie-Love Field. The game against the Wildcats was originally scheduled for Princeton Stadium.
