Princeton Men's Soccer Wins 2025 Ivy League Championship
November 01, 2025 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. – Earning its sixth Ivy League win this season, the #5 Princeton men's soccer team won the 2025 Ivy League Championship title on Saturday night in Roberts Stadium.Â
Â
Defeating Dartmouth 1-0, with the lone goal by Sam Vigilante, the Tigers improved to 6-0 in the Ivy League and 12-1-2 on the year, clinching the program's 11th title all-time and first since 2021.Â
Â
With the championship, Princeton also secures the no. 1 seed in the upcoming Ivy League Tournament, which it will now host in Roberts Stadium on November 13 and 16.Â
Â
"The guys have been competing hard for this all season. The championship is a testament to the work they have all put in all year, and I believe they are deserving of the title. We look forward to closing out the regular season next week and to hosting the Ivy League Tournament here in two weeks." - Head Coach Jim Barlow
Â
For the 11 Tigers in the Class of 2026, the day was extra special, as the championship was won in front of a roaring home crowd in Roberts on senior day.Â
Â
How It Happened
Princeton was on the defense early as Dartmouth came out with speed and energy. With the exception of an early shot on goal by Jack Jasinski, which forced a save by the Big Green keeper Konstantinos Dellas, it was Dartmouth who was on the attack - taking four shots and earning two corners through the first 20 minutes. With one on goal, Tiger keeper Andrew Samuels was there to make the stop.Â
Â
Starting to pick up some momentum, a free kick 40 yards out resulted in a chance for the Tigers as Jasinski sent the ball in where it was headed by Frederik Sadjak, but it went wide to earn the corner. On the service, Bardia Hormozi put a head on it, but the ball again deflected wide of the goal.Â
Â
Continuing to build, the Tigers upped the pressure as Vigilante and Jasinski each made dangerous runs up the wings with the game picking up pace. Dartmouth would not see another shot for the remainder of the half.
In the 35th minute, a ball from Kristian Kelley connected with Vigilante through two defenders. Vigilante, taking one touch to control the ball and one more to shoot, sent the ball clinically into the bottom left of the net to put the Tigers up 1-0.Â
Â
After halftime, the Tigers picked up where they left off, pressuring the Big Green defense with an onslaught of shots and chances to deal with.
First-year Tyler Vilet was relentless as he tallied three shots on goal, forcing saves from Dellas each time.Â
In the 55th minute, it looked like the Tigers would double it as Vilet made a shot that was deflected by Dellas, only for it to fall to Vigilante who sent it inches wide. The resulting corner kick was headed towards the goal by Daniel Ittycheria, but Dellas was there again to make the save.Â
Â
In the 69th minute, Hormozi almost stunned the Roberts crowd as he launched a direct free kick from outside the box, but the shot hit the crossbar. Ittycheria hit the woodwork, too, just minutes later, as his tap-in shot was deflected by the post. Still, the Tigers pushed as they generated a total of 15 shots and six on goal in the second half.
Â
Dartmouth's best chance of the half came in the 85th minute, when a direct free kick was launched towards goal, but it hit the post before diving Samuels could even make contact.Â
Â
With the clock winding down, the energy in Roberts started ramping up as the Tigers saw the title within reach. As the 1-0 score was finalized, Roberts Stadium erupted as the Tigers stormed onto the field and over to their supporters to celebrate the Ivy Championship victory.Â
