PRINCETON, N.J. - After suffering 15 straight losses dating back to the 1995 season, the Princeton Tigers have acheived the unthinkable -- a winning streak. Princeton (2-3, 2-1 CSFL) used a one-yard carry by Joseph Andolina (Jr., Princeton Junction, N.J.) to complete a two-point conversion for a 22-21 victory over the visiting Cornell Big Red at Frelinghuysen Field at Weaver Track and Field Stadium.
Andolina's run capped off an eight-point drive for the Tigers, who scored their third touchdown of the game on a three-yardpass from Andolina to wide receiver Paul Hernandez (Fr., Arimo, Idaho). Princeton rallied from a 21- 14 deficit to gain theadvantage after suffering several setbacks in the final quarter, including a fumble at the Cornell 1-yard line and an interceptioninside the 20.
Geoff Gasperini (So., Richmond, Va.) led the Tigers on the ground with 114 yards and turned in a 42-yard rush for Princeton'slongest carry of the evening. Kevin Roberts (Sr., Ringwood, N.J.) and Jeff Mah (Buffalo Grove, Ill.), last week's CSFL Playerof the Week, scored the other two Tiger touchdowns on runs of five and two yards, respectively. Andolina finished the day9-of-15 for 87 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Josh Trembley led the offense for Cornell, carrying the ball 26 times for a game-high 175 yards and two of the Big Redtouchdowns. He turned in two rushes of more than 40 yards, including a 68-yard run which led to Cornell's first score of the game. Quarterback Eric Thul picked up the other Big Red touchdown on a four-yard rush, but was 0-for-6 passing in the game.
