Men Fall to Penn, Women Sweep Two Matches

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Coming off a 4-game sweep on Saturday, the Princeton fencing team split a pair of matches with Ivy foe Penn, while the women (11-1, 3-0 Ivy) sailed past Johns Hopkins.
The men (8-2, 1-1 Ivy) took the epee event, winning six of nine bouts, but fell in the foil 6-3 and the sabre 5-4. With the score tied at 13-13, the match came down to the final foil bout, which proved to be the most intense one of the day, where Marco Acerra (Sr., Voorhees, N.J.) fell to Penn's Wright 3-5, giving the Quakers the 14-13 victory.
In the women's foil, Princeton's Orsi Szotyory-Grove (Jr., Houston, Texas) had the best showing, posting a 7-1 record for the day, including a 4-0 performance against Johns Hopkins. Lindsay Campbell (Fr., Shaker Heights, Ohio) led the women's epee team with a perfect 8-0 mark on the day.
