Tigers Finish Season at NCAA Championships

WALTHAM, MASS - On the final day of competition, the Princeton fencing team used a strong performance in the two women's weapons to edge St. John's and take fourth place in the 1999 national championships held on the campus of Brandeis University this weekend. Penn State went on to capture its record-setting fifth straight national title.
Captain Caitlin Rich (Sr., Wyckoff, N.J.), who entered the day's competition in eighth place, bettered her mark by winning 15 of her 23 bouts to finish seventh in the women's epee event. Maya Lawrence (Fr., Teaneck, N.J.) jumped two spots during Sunday's competition to finish in eleventh place overall, seeing victory in 12 bouts.
Lisa Leslie (So., Morristown, N.J.), the only Princeton representative in the women's foil event, moved from seventeenth place after three days into fifteenth place on the final day, winning 10 of 23 bouts.
