PRINCETON, N.J. - Despite another early lead, the Princeton University men's hockey team suffered its third straight loss at the hands of Union College. The Skating Dutchmen scored three unanswered goals to take the game 3-1.
Kirk Lamb opened the scoring with a slap shot from just inside the blue line to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Goals by Doug Christiansen and Jason Ralph gave Union a 2-1 lead late in the first period, and Union goalie Brandon Snee made sure that lead stood for the rest of the game.
An empty-net goal by Ryan Campbell ended the Tigers' bid for a comeback at 19:20 of the final period. Freshman Nate Nomeland started in net and made 17 saves on 19 shots. Sophomore Dave Stathos came in in relief and saved all 10 shots he faced in the final period.
The Tigers are now 6-10-3 overall and 4-5-3 in the league. They will travel to Clarkson for a Friday night showdown at 7 p.m. at Cheel Arena.
