Headed To Lake Placid! Men's Hockey Sweeps No. 20 Union To Reach ECAC Semis
March 14, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
It wasn't a miracle, it was simply "Princeton Hockey" as the Tigers showed a resilience on home ice that has been a staple of the program all season with a furious third-period comeback to complete the sweep of Union in the ECAC Quarterfinals via a 5-2 win in front of a raucous Hobey Baker Rink crowd.
The Tigers trailed, 2-1, with one period to play and dialed up a four-goal third to secure its eighth trip to the ECAC Championship Weekend in program history and first since 2018.What a play!!

The Tigers await their opponent but know their next game will be March 20 at Herb Brooks 1980 Arena in Lake Placid.
Looking for more history? How about the win capping a 14-2-1 season on home ice to set a new Princeton record for wins on its home sheet in the 103 year history of Hobey Baker Rink.
Kai Daniells had a hat trick to give him 19 goals on the season, adding an assist for a four-point night.
Senior captain David Jacobs had a four-assist game to increase huis point total for 2025-26 to 35.UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Arthur Smith turned aside 32 Union shots in the win, aided in Princeton's defensive effort by Tyler Rubin who blocked six shots of his own.
Princeton opened the scoring 7:31 into the game when David Jacobs picked the puck off a stick of a Union defender and slid a pass through the goal mouth to Kai Daniells for a tap-in strike and a 1-0 Princeton lead.
The Tigers held that lead until Union scored a power-play goal with 3:47 to play in the opening period. Just seconds after the Tigers killed off the first of two Garnet Charger power plays and got back to 5-on-4, Etienne Lessard had a wrist shot from the point find its way through traffic and over Smith's glove to even the game at 1-1.Quick pass!!

The Garnet Chargers connected on a second special teams goal to take a 2-1 lead when Parker Lindauer had a Colby MacArthur short-handed centering pass carom off his skate and in just seconds after a Princeton shot had clanged off the post.
Princeton's rally began with a power-play goal off the stick of Jaxson Ezman 3:00 into the third period off assists from Jacobs and Daniells. Ezman was patient after a cross-ice pass from Daniells, working back to the high slot before ripping a wrister by Korpi to tie the game.
4:14 later, Daniells netted the eventual game-winner as his drive to the far post was rewarded with a backhander by Korpi. The sequence began in the neutral zone when Nick Marciano knocked down a Union clearing attempt that sprung Jacobs and Daniells on a 2-on-1.Tied at 2!!

Princeton would tack on two empty-netters as the Garnet Chargers chased the ability to continue their season. The first came off the stick of Jake Manfre as he won a puck race and turned aside the challenge of a Garnet Charger to slide the puck into the open net with 1:41 to play.
Just 0:19 later, Daniells completed his hat trick with a long-distance emptyt-netter from his own blue line. How electric!!
