Rutgers No Match for Tigers

PRINCETON, N.J. - The women's swimming team showed no rust of the holiday layoff this afternoon in beating Rutgers at DeNunzio Pool by a score of 178-117. The Tigers posted first place finishes in 13 of the 16 events.
First place winners for the Tigers were Maura Bloger in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:13.68, Val Kukla in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.21, Michelle Nielson in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.78, Kristen Szumera in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:07.10, Molly Seto in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:06.88 and the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.66 as well as the 100 butterfly in a time of 57.40, Sangeeta Puri in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:10.23 and Chrissy Holland with a time of 2:25.64 in the 200 breaststroke. Princeton also won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.11
Princeton swept places 1-3 in both diving events. The one-meter competition was swept by Danielle Stramandi (277.35), Katherine Mattison (260.54) and Erin Lutz (254.10). The three-meter board was taken by Lutz, Stramandi (277.57) and Kristy Wilson (277.57).
The Tigers now take the next two weeks off for first semester exams and return to action with a dual meet with Dartmouth on January 23.
