Women’s Swimming & Diving Wins Fourth Consecutive Ivy League Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Princeton University women's swimming & diving team won its fourth consecutive Ivy League Championship Saturday night at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
In addition to the Ivy title being the Tigers' fourth straight, it's also Princeton's 28th total, which is the most of any Ivy program. In addition, the championship is the team's third under Head Coach Abby Brethauer.
The Tigers ended the meet with 1432 points. The University of Pennsylvania was second with 1204 points and Harvard came in third with 1153.5 points.
Eleanor Sun was named High Point Swimmer of the Meet for the second consecutive season. Sun won three events; the 200 IM, the 400 IM and the 200 butterfly. She earned an automatic qualification to the NCAA Championships in all three events. Sun also set a pool record in the 200 IM, an Ivy meet record and a pool record in the 400 IM along with a program record in the 800 freestyle relay.
Charlotte Martinkus was named High Point Diver of the Meet for the third time in her career. Martinkus won the 1-meter diving and set both an Ivy meet record and a pool record. On the 3-meter board, Martinkus finished fourth.
The fourth and final day of competition saw Sun win the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:54.78. She was joined in the A final by Heidi Smithwick who took third (1:56.73), Savannah Skow who came in sixth (1:59.96) and Chloe Kim who finished eighth (2:03.61).
Delaney Herr finished fifth (1:56.55) the 200 backstroke and was joined in the A final by Sophie Segerson, who finished eighth (1:57.43).
Two Tigers advanced to the A final of the 100 freestyle, with Sabrina Johnston coming in second (48.55) and Sophia Sunwoo third (48.90).
Three Tigers made it to the A final on the 3-meter board. Charlotte Norman earned a second-place finish (320.15), Martinkus fourth-place (292.55) and Maggie Squire fifth-place (290.85).
The 200 breaststroke saw Eliza Brown finished second (2:12.92).
The meet ended with the 400 freestyle relay, where the quartet of Sunwoo, Johnston, Edie Simecek and Sun finished second in 3:15.10.
