Mink Sinks Princeton

Burlington, Vt. - Two Graham Mink goals, one with 2:32 remaining in the third period, led Vermont to a 3-2 men's hockey victory over Princeton at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
Chris Corrinet (Greenfield, Mass.) gave Princeton a 1-0 first-period lead when he converted a tic-tac-toe passing play while the Tigers were enjoying a five-on-three power play. Kirk Lamb (Cold Lake, Alberta) sent a pass from the right face-off circle to Brad Parsons (Kingston, Mass.) at the side of the goal. Parsons then slid a goal-mouth pass to an uncovered Corrinet, who banged home his third goal of the season at the 15-minute mark.
The Tigers held the one-goal advantage largely due to the goaltending of Dave Stathos (Longueuil, Que.), who make 15 saves in the opening 20 minutes and 31 for the game. "Stathos again gave us a strong outing in goal," coach Len Quesnelle said. Mink tied game at 16:21 of the second period when he skated in from the point, used a Princeton defender as a screen and beat Stathos high to the stick side.
The Catamounts carried some of that momentum into the third period as they took their first lead, 2-1, just 1:49 into the period. With a player from each team in the penalty box after drawing coincidental minors at the end of the second period, Vermont went on a four-on-three power play when Lamb was whistled for tripping just 24 second into the third. Andreas Moborg's power-play goal from the slot gave Vermont a one-goal lead.
Less than three minutes later, however, Lamb evened the game at 2 when he fired a shot from the right face-off circle past Vermont goalie Andrew Allen. Parsons and defenseman Neil McCann (Calgary, Alberta) picked up the assists. It was Lamb's first goal of the year to go along with five assists.
Mink's game-winner came at 17:28 when he redirected a pass from Moborg.
"In this league there is a fine line between winning and losing one-goal games," Quesnelle said. "At times tonight we showed that resiliency and will to compete on the road, which are necessary in games like the one tonight."
The loss was Princeton's first of the season as the Tigers fell to 1-1-3 overall and 0-1-2 in the ECAC. The Catamounts are 3-2 overall and in first place in the ECAC with a 3-0 mark.
Princeton plays at Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 18. The Tigers next home game will be Tuesday, Nov. 21 against Yale. All ECAC games begin a 7 p.m.
