One-Timers
Class-ic success -- The victory over Rensselaer was No. 64 for the Class of 2000. No graduating class has ever won more games in its time at Princeton (the Class of 1999 won 63 games). Climbing Ivy -- Princeton is in first place in the Ivy League race with a 3-1-2 record. The Tigers are the defending league champions and will play four of its final five games against Ivy opponents.
It's not easy being Green -- Dartmouth is the lone Ivy team that Don Cahoon has a winning record against (9-6-2).
Hats off -- Brad Parsons' hat trick against Rensselaer last weekend was Princeton's first since Jeff Halpern '99 had a hat trick last season at Dartmouth. It was his third multiple-goal game of the season (he had two against Vermont and Colgate).
I'm honored -- Parsons was named ECAC Player of the Week after scoring three goals at Rensselaer and adding three assists at Union. He is the first Tiger to be named Player of the Week since Syl Apps '99 received the honor after the Mariucci Classic. Sophomore Dave Stathos has been named ECAC Goaltender of the Week twice this season.
Corri-netting a pair -- Chris Corrinet had a pair of goals at Union. He had two assists at Rensselaer and was named to the ECAC Honor Roll along with teammate Dave Stathos, who won both games in net.
Off the Schneid -- After recording each of his first 15 points on the power play, David Schneider got his first even-strength point when he assisted on Shane Campbell's goal at Union.
Seventh heaven -- Princeton has scored a goal in each of its last seven periods. Before that stretch the Tigers had six scoreless periods out of their last nine.
Milestone for Morin -- Benoit Morin set the unofficial all-time record for penalty minutes at Princeton when he received his 298th minute at Union.
Close shave -- After offering his hair if his team could get three points last weekend, Don Cahoon received a crew cut from his players last Saturday.
Power-ful play -- Princeton has scored a power-play goal in seven of its last eight games. It had three last weekend, including two by Brad Parsons in the win over Rensselaer. In the first game against Dartmouth, the Tigers were 2-for-5 on the advantage with goals by Shane Campbell and Kirk Lamb
Sunday Bloody Sunday -- The Tigers have played two games this season on Sundays. They defeated Notre Dame 4-3 in the first game of a sweep at the Joyce Center and fell to UMass-Lowell 6-2 at Baker Rink.
Lamb-inated -- Junior Kirk Lamb is one assist off the league lead in ECAC play. Of his 16 assists, 14 have been in ECAC play. Rensselaer's Matt Murley and Brandon Dietrich of St. Lawrence have 15.
Getting Byrne-d -- Princeton will have to do a better job limiting defenseman Trevor Byrne. The freshman scored two of his three goals this season in the first meeting. Both came within 70 seconds of each other early in the second period.
Nine down, two to go -- There are only two ECAC teams that Dave Stathos has yet to record a win against. They are St. Lawrence and today's opponent, Dartmouth.
Fifteen minutes of fame -- Dave Stathos is 5-2 in starts when he shuts out the opponent for the first 15 minutes and 2-5 when he gives up a goal in the time.
Similarities... -- With a win today, the Tigers will go into the final weekend in February in fourth place in the ECAC. The 1998-99 team went into the final weekend in February in the same position.
And Differences -- While last year's squad was picked to finish second in the conference, this year's team was picked to finish 11th.
OK in OT -- Princeton has lost only once in its last 19 overtime contests. Its last win came against Rensselaer during the final league weekend last season. Jeff Halpern '99 beat Joel Laing for the winner.
Looking ahead -- Princeton will continue battling for both home ice in the ECAC and an Ivy League championship when it hosts Harvard and Brown next weekend. The Tigers defeated the Crimson 4-2 but fell to Brown 2-1 in a game that Bears' goaltender Scott Stirling made 49 saves. It will also be the final regular-season home weekend for the senior class.
