Princeton Roars Past Dartmouth

PRINCETON, N.J. - Shane Campbell scored two goals, including the game winner, as Princeton's men's hockey team defeated Dartmouth 5-2 this afternoon in front of 2,165 at Baker Rink. Princeton moves to 9-12-3 overall and 7-7-3 in the ECAC and is now in a tie for fourth place in the conference standings.
Campbell scored on a rebound of a Kirk Lamb shot in a 4-on-4 situation at the 12:21 mark of the first period and gave Princeton a 1-0 lead going into the locker room.
In the second period, Princeton scored three goals in a span of 2:16 for a 4-0 lead. Josh Roberts scored at the 6:31 mark on assists from Scott Prime and Benoit Morin. Campbell notched the eventual game winner on a between-the-legs deflection of a Lamb pass. Brad Meredith added another assist on the goal. Morin scored on a wrist shot on the short side just 28 seconds later on an assist from Dave Bennett, forcing the Big Green to make a goaltending change.
Dartmouth came out and scored two goals in the first half of the third period and Lamb added an empty-net, power-play goal for the final tally.
Dave Stathos made 34 saved between he pipes for the Tigers. Princeton killed off seven Dartmouth power plays.
