PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton lost ground in its push for home ice in the ECAC playoffs and its second straight Ivy League title when it fell to Harvard 4-1 Friday night in front of 2,499 fans at Baker Rink.
The biggest loss of the night may have been an injury to solo captain Darren Yopyk, who was taken to the hospital for x-rays after going into the boards awkwardly in the third period.
Yopyk started the night well when he scored the game's first goal at 8:28 of the opening period. The unassisted tally was one of five shots that Princeton would take over the first 40 minutes.
Steve Moore evened the score at 1-1 with eight seconds remaining in the first period, and Scott Turco scored the game-winner midway through the second period. Chris Bala and Dominic Moore added insurance goals in the final period.
Dave Stathos made 27 saves in the loss while J.R. Prestifilippo made 10 for the win.
Princeton (9-13-3, 7-8-3) will host Brown Saturday night at 7 p.m.
